Today on JeBronMusic.com, I would like to take the time out to recognize a significant person in my life. She was key in helping me get to where I am today. So, I dedicate this week’s special feature to Ms. Yolanda Neals and her thriving and positive business, Divinely On Purpose. Thanks so much for your vast knowledge and support.
1. Tell us a little about yourself, what you do, and your business?
I have been a music manager for 15 years. I started with working on a marketing project with Laface Records and developed a passion for wanting to help independent artists. It was very exciting for me. The R&B girl group Escape was very big at that time. Hence, this was my initial taste of the music industry. I studied Music Business Management and Fashion Marketing at the Arts Institute of Atlanta and got into LaFace via an internship that I worked under Moses Dailey and The Atlanta Entertainment Association showcasing new talent and this brought me across a lot of artists.
My motto has always been, “putting business into the artist, not just the artist into the business”. I enjoyed being a part of the management portion of music industry, however, I have since evolved into a consultant for independent artists. As I wanted to further develop my skills, I trained under the spiritual motivational speaker and best selling author Iyanla Vanzant. I then used this knowledge and platformed my own business to support people working within their passion. I have a love for creativity. By combining and interchanging entertainment with empowerment you get: innertainment (this is the ability to go within and empower yourself in the entertainment world). And thus was born my new business: “www.divinelyonpurpose.com” The first Inspirational Marketplace of it's kind where I kick off The InnerPowerMovement.
2. How do you know JeBron and his music?
Okay –so I met JeBron at the age of 17, which was initiated by one of my best friends. I was very interested in him, because he was young, talented and already had a vision, in that he was very connected. I was very impressed because I could see him becoming successful and how he would reach that success. I reached out to him when I took a batch of up and coming recording artists away to write, meditate, and build on their talents over to Hilton Head, SC. I remember him working hard on that trip and I was very impressed with how he was self-employed and he invested everything into his music.
We did however, loose contact for a few years and for me to see his growth today is very impressive. Yolanda quotes, “his destiny has already been written in the stars – his success is already done.” He has all the ingredients in the pot to create a delicious career. I see him doing great things! He has Integrity and patience that allows him to build brick by brick instead of right now and that is what staying power is created of.
3. Any websites/links if people want to get in contact with you?
I actually have 2 business – Divinely On Purpose and The Red Panty Society, which is feel good organization created for women and their men. The Red Panty Society honors and celebrates women.
Yolanda leaves us with this quote by Mya Angelou said, “Our children come through us, but they don’t belong to us.” I am here to serve, support, and be a conduit to bring people together to create masterpieces.
In closing, I would like to thank Yolanda Neals for being a part of my life and thank her for all she afforded me in knowledge, time, and support in this music industry.
